Afghanistan withdrawal

In Aravind Adiga's, The White Tiger, the protagonist writes a series of letters to a Chinese leader. In one of these letters, he mentions 3 countries that have never been conquered; China, Afghanistan and Abyssinia aka Ethiopia. An Afghani I spoke to was of the opninion Afghanistan would be fine if all the foreign armies left.
